Meet JR, a handsome, good-natured boy who is a full size basset. At only 3 y/o he has beautiful coloring, long ears, big paws, a deep bark, and is as sweet as they come. He is house trained and crate trained, although he doesn’t need to be crated. 

JR is looking for his forever home because his owners moved where the size of the dog was restricted. JR is a big dog, but not overweight. He loves to walk, cuddle, sit on the couch with you and hide any treasures he finds (socks, gloves, treats).  He loves attention, playing with kids or other dogs & gets along with cats

Meet Lulu, she is a 10 1/2 year old owner surrender. She has been in her foster home for 3 weeks and settled in very well within the first week. When she came in she had some cysts that were removed and her healing has gone well. Being an older girl, she has arthritis in her front legs and has been receiving regular arthritis medication that helps her tremendously in feeling better.

Her foster family can't say enough good things about this sweetheart of a senior. Don't let her age fool you, she still likes to play with toys. Being in a home with or without other dogs would work for her. She has shown some interest in playing with her basset sisters in her foster home, but they are older and haven't taken her up on her "invitation."

Due to the aforementioned arthritis, it would be best for Lulu to be in a no steps home, or only a couple steps. She is potty trained and learned how to use the doggie door in her foster home. Lulu is crate trained, but would prefer not having to be in one for long periods of time. Someone who is home a lot would be best for her.

When sweet 7 year old Bonnie came to us, she had been suffering from an incredibly inflamed skin condition and large skin growths for two years.  She also had infections in both ears, and needed dental work.

  Weighing 84 pounds when she entered GABR’s care, she had 8 growths hanging from her, that totaled 6 pounds, when removed.  She was treated with allergy medications, started on a limited diet,  given special baths and treatments for her skin ear medications.  

When she had healed enough from that surgery, she needed a dental surgery, and another growth removed from her leg.  Though her skin is slowly improving, the medications will be ongoing, and she will need special diet, possibly for the remainder of  her life.I

n spite of all of this, sweet Bonnie embodies the words loving and playful.  She absolutely adores attention, plays with the other dogs well, is loving her long and   daily walks, and is a terrific companion.  She wants to be included in everything and be with her caretaker all the time, and in fact when left, will howl the way only a basset knows how to; loud and long!

She loves to tear around with the other dogs, and has a doggy door in her foster home, so is able to go in and out as she pleases.  She has discovered the joy of unattended socks, and will shred them in minutes, so having chew toys available is a must.  She is crate trained, and given her love of chewing, is the best option when she has to be left alone.

Bonnie needs an owner who is home most of the time, is active and likes to walk daily, and will be attentive to her health care needs, now that she is doing well.  If this sounds like you, please fill out an adoption application.  She may have special needs for her allergies, but she will be your special and loving companion for life.

Meet Gunner:

Hi! My name is Gunner!  I am the best boy. I am a six year old, tri-color, neutered male. My family reached out to Guardian Angel because they were no longer able to provide the care I needed, due to family health issues. 

I am a very sweet boy and I will follow you everywhere. I like to sleep on my dog bed, which will preferably be located in your bedroom. I would love nothing more than to cuddle with you on the couch. I also love kids. I have a five year old human sibling at my foster home. I am very gentle around her, and I do not mind at all when she snuggles with me.  I am working really hard on my house training. My foster Mom says I am ALMOST house trained, but on occasion I still forget and have an accident inside..

I am also quite fond of dog toys, of all varieties. I am not picky.  I love squeaky toys. I will do my best to "hide" any chew bones from other resident dogs. And by hide, I mean pushing the bone under couch cushions or under rocks in the yard:).  

I get along great with all other dogs. I love playing with my four basset hound siblings at my foster house. I have met a cat at my foster Mom's work, however I am not sure what I think about these strange animals. My foster Mom believes I would do fine in a household with a cat, after I have more time to investigate these strange animals. I was an only dog before I became a part of Guardian Angel Basset Rescue. My foster Mom believes I would be happiest in a home with a dog sibling.
